Summer campers enjoy learning and playing nineteenth-century games.

Hagley's Summer Odysseys

Hagley's summer camps are unique learning adventures, integrating history, science, and the arts. Children enjoy experiencing something completely new to them every day! All of Hagley's camps offer both indoor and outdoor activities on our beautiful 235-acre property along the Brandywine; small groups of fifteen campers led by two adult instructors and three teen counselors; two age groups with developmentally appropriate activities for younger and older children; and educational enrichment that supports Delaware curriculum standards.

July 6-10: Games Unplugged (Ages 7-9)
Campers will find out how to have fun without electricity! No iPods or Xboxes here, just good old-fashioned games and other popular amusements of the 1800s.

July 13-17: Lost Skills and Arts (Ages 7-12)
Campers will get to try out some of the skills children used every day in the 1800s. Before shopping malls and McDonalds, children learned to make their own clothes and toys, prepare snacks from fresh ingredients, woodwork, fish, and many other "lost arts".

July 20-24: Gears, Engineers, and Science Frontiers (Ages11-13)
Campers will take on engineering challenges, while learning how engineers have helped to shape our world from the time of water wheels and steam engines to Lycra and Teflon.
