Raymond Loewy Collections

Date: 1903-1982, bulk 1934-1974

Collection abstract: The Loewy manuscript collections are divided into two groups as described below:

The Archives (accession 2251) includes business and personal correspondence, financial records, scrapbooks, photographs, and client/project files that document his life and work.

Loewy Miscellany (accession 2327) includes advertisements, postcards, product brochures, and publications that were purchased for possible use in the exhibit "Raymond Loewy: Designs For A Consumer Culture", but did not appear. Companies represented include Coca-Cola, Frigidaire, Greyhound, and Studebaker.

Collection size: 43 linear feet

Access: Internal documents are closed to researchers for 25-years from the date of creation. The remainder of the collection is open for research. Finding aids are available online with detailed desciptions of these two collections: Raymond Loewy Archives and Raymond Loewy Miscellany.
