About
The DuPont Company on the Brandywine was made possible by a partnership between the Hagley Museum & Library and the University of Virginia with generous support from the Fairplay Foundation.
This exhibit is the first phase of a long-range plan by the Hagley Museum and Library to build a comprehensive digital resource on the history of the Brandywine River Valley.
Using the wealth of primary resources at Hagley and other local instititions, a site will be developed that employs regional history to speak to larger historical themes and concepts about business and technology.
The goal of the Brandywine River Valley project is to create a valuable teaching tool that offers students and scholars insight into American industrial history; the development of energy sources and transportation methods; and the evolution of work and business in the United States.
