During his 24 years as the head of MCI, William McGowan expanded the company from a struggling local radio service to a $9.5 billion telecommunications giant. His impact was felt throughout American and international business, particularly in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, technology, and the creation of a competitive market in the telecommunications industry.
