2023 Summer Internship
The Project
Hagley Library is seeking to hire a processing/cataloging intern for 2023 under the supervision of the Technical Services Librarian of Published Collections. The intern will be responsible for the conservation, arrangement, description, processing and cataloging for published materials produced by depositors such as the Chamber of Commerce of the United States (20 linear feet), Sunoco (50 linear feet), and the National Association of Manufacturers (5 linear feet).
Duties will include:
• Review condition of items for possible conservation attention
• Sort and arrange the publications
• Compare items against existing library holdings
• Process and/or catalog items as deemed appropriate in consultation with the Technical Services Librarian
• Create and maintain records using the local integrated library system (EOS.Web) and the Office 365 suite
Qualifications
The intern should, at a minimum, have experience using special collections or archives. Experience or training in library processing and cataloging is preferred. Familiarity with electronic bibliographic records in both the MARC books and serials formats on WorldCat is desired.
Terms
Summer internships at Hagley typically entail 280 hours of service, with start and end dates set by mutual agreement. The rate is $18 per hour.
