Supervisor: Head Archivist – Archival Collections Department
Position Description:
The Processing Archivist is responsible for the preservation, arrangement, and description of Hagley’s archival collections under the supervision of the Head Archivist in the Archival Collections Department. The Processing Archivist will also assist with other duties related to managing, preserving, and providing access to Hagley’s archival collections, including digitization and metadata.
Specific Duties:

Review materials for possible preservation attention.

Re-boxing, re-foldering, and labeling archival materials.

Process, arrange and describe materials.

Author EAD- and DACS-compliant findings aid(s) using ArchivesSpace.
Requirements:

Masters in Library and Information Science or equivalent or prior archival experience.

Must have excellent writing and organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Subject knowledge relevant to Hagley’s archival collections.

Education and/or related experience in any of the following: Library and Information Science, Public History, or Museum Studies.

Experience with archival processing of historical materials.

Knowledge of EAD and DACs standards.
-
Familiarity with ArchivesSpace or other collections management tool.

Familiarity with the MODS standard and essentials of archival digitization best practices.

Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
