Go Behind the Scenes at Hagley Library

Wilmington, Delaware – October 2014 – Hagley Museum and Library will celebrate American Archives Month with a Library Open House on Saturday, October 11, 9:30 a.m. to noon. Visitors will be able to see artifacts from the library collections and take a behind-the-scenes tour. The open house is free and open to the public. Visitors will be treated to a look at the depth and breadth of Hagley’s collections. On display will be rare photographs of Albert Einstein from the David Sarnoff Collection, DuPont Company records from the early 1800s, documents relating to the construction of the PSFS Building in Philadelphia and the Seagrams Building in New York City, and the papers from builder John McShain about the construction of the Pentagon. Visitors may also take a behind-the-scenes tour of library work areas. Included on the tour are the collections storage areas and conservation lab. Hagley curators, archivists, and conservators will be present to answer questions and speak about their work.

Hagley’s Library is the nation’s leading business history library, archives, and research center. Current holdings comprise 37,000 linear feet in the Manuscripts and Archives Department, 290,000 printed volumes in the Published Collections Department, and 2 million visual items and 330,000 digital images and pages in the Audiovisual and Digital Initiatives Department
