Black and white group photo of Louise du Pont Crowninshield on her wedding day with her bridesmaids.

June has traditionally been the most popular month for weddings, and we're welcoming the return of wedding season with this photograph of the historic preservationist Louise du Pont (1877- 1958) on her wedding day with her bridesmaids.

Louise du Pont married Francis Boardman Crowninshield (1869–1950) on this day, June 28, in 1900. Her bridesmaids, left to right, were Amy du Pont, Elaine Irving, Bertha Benkard, Paulina Robinson. The name of the photobombing dog at the lower center is unknown.

This photograph is part of Hagley Library's Hagley portrait file (Accession 1970.182). Our Digital Archive includes selection of images from this collection depicting or associated with du Pont family members. Click here to view it online now.
