In February 2023, all guest areas are open Fridays through Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last admission is at 3 p.m. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, only Hagley’s new exhibition, Nation of Inventors, is open. All other guest areas (the historic powder yard, the historic home and garden, etc.) are closed. Reduced admission is offered on days when only Nation of Inventors is open. PLAN YOUR VISIT
Start your visit at the Hagley Visitor Center where you can purchase tickets and memberships, pick up a visitor guide, and see the new exhibition Nation of Inventors. The Museum Store is located right next door.
Hagley has multiple entrances. Be sure to the use the museum entrance at 200 Hagley Creek Road, Wilmington, DE, 19807. Plenty of free parking is available near the Visitor Center. Private vehicles are not permitted in other areas of Hagley.

While you could easily spend the whole day at Hagley, most guests spend between two and three hours at the museum. When you arrive at the museum, our Visitor Services staff will help you plan to get the most out of your day. An overview of what’s included in a visit to Hagley is provided below.
Hagley is a large, indoor-outdoor museum covering 235 acres. Much of the property is walkable. Some areas feature uneven terrain and gravel paths. Comfortable footwear is strongly encouraged.
Shuttle service is provided between key locations throughout the museum grounds including the Visitor Center, historic powder yard, and the historic home and garden. Shuttles are wheelchair accessible.

|Nation of Inventors (OPEN year-round.)
Hagley’s new, one-of-a-kind exhibition Nation of Inventors celebrates diverse stories of innovation by taking visitors on a journey through the “golden age” of American invention in the 1800s. The exhibit features more than 120 patent models from Hagley’s collection highlighting inventors from all walks of life. Guests typically spend 30-40 minutes in Nation of Inventors. Learn more HERE.
|The Hagley Powder Yard (OPEN Fridays through Mondays only in February.)
Explore the gunpowder factory run by the DuPont company from the early 1800s to the 1920s. Historic buildings, daily demonstrations, and self-guided tours in a beautiful, natural setting combine to create a unique museum experience. Guests typically spend 40-60 minutes in the powder yard. |Eleutherian Mills Residence (OPEN Fridays through Mondays only in February.)
Before Winterthur, Nemours, Longwood, and other, famous du Pont estates, there was Eleutherian Mills—the first du Pont family home in America. Guided tours highlight family artifacts and decorative arts, bringing to life 150 years of family history with links to major events from the Louisiana Purchase to the Civil War and more. Tours are offered throughout the day and included with museum admission. Guests typically spend 45 minutes to an hour on the Residence tour. Learn more HERE.
E. I. du Pont Garden ( OPEN Fridays through Mondays only in February.)
The area around the Residence and E. I. du Pont Garden also features collections of history vehicles, including a 1928 DuPont Motors Model G Phaeton, a 1911 Detroit Electric car, a Conestoga wagon, and more; the new Hagley Pollinator Garden; and other displays and exhibits.
