Our featured motion picture this month from the Hagley Library comes from our Strawbridge & Clothier collection. The film is titled Easter on the Boardwalk (c. 1950) and it follows Ella Waters, the Fashion Director for the Philadelphia area department store, as she "greets the merry Easter throngs" in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Easter Parade in Atlantic City originated in 1876 and has been a springtime tradition in the resort town ever since. The silent twelve-minute film is a unique record of the scene in Atlantic City over half a century ago:
