The historic building in which the Museum Store is located has lived many lives. Originally built in 1822 for the cleaning and picking of raw cotton for the adjacent textile mill (now the Visitor Center), it was repurposed in the 1880s by the DuPont Company as a carpenter’s shop and production facility for making metal powder keg caps.
In its current form, the Museum Store highlights the building’s interior architectural elements including its center brick archways and vaulted ceiling. The store features merchandise reflective of the beautiful grounds and history of the site as well as the museum’s public programming. Inside you will find a large selection of books related to the DuPonts and the Brandywine region, artist-made jewelry, one-of-a-kind gifts and homewares, and science-based activities for kids.
Whether you are looking for yourself or a loved one, you will be sure to find the perfect memento or gift while supporting the mission of the museum.
