Hagley Names Michelle DiMeo Library Associate Director, Collections Development

Monday, October 22, 2018

Back in May, we announced the arrival of Dr. Michelle DiMeo as the new Business Manager of the Hagley Heritage Curators (HHC) program. Recognizing her leadership talents, Hagley asked her to take on the leadership of the Manuscripts and Archives department after the passing of Lynn A. Catanese. Adding the leadership of M&A to her portfolio, Michelle was named the Associate Library Director, Collections Development, on September 17, 2018. Michelle will retain her duties working with the Library Director and other curators in developing Hagley’s collections.

Prior to her arrival at Hagley, Michelle worked at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, where she served as the college’s representative on the Medical Heritage Library consortium. Most recently, she was Director of Digital Library Initiatives at the Science History Institute (formerly Chemical Heritage Foundation), where she oversaw the development of their Digital Collections.

Michelle has taught history at the University of Pennsylvania and Lehigh University, and previously taught technical communication and information design at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Michelle earned her doctorate in History and English from the University of Warwick (UK) and recently finished her manuscript on the life and influence of Lady Katherine Jones, Lady Ranelagh (1615-1691), the older sister of the influential chemist Robert Boyle. It is under consideration for publication. She also serves as the Digital Media & Humanities editor of the Bulletin of the History of Medicine, the journal of the American Association for the History of Medicine.
