Science Saturday Presented by Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP – What's In Your Dirt?
Discover the wonderful, worm-filled world of soil! Create your own mixture, plant a seed in it, and watch it grow!
Visitors of all ages are invited to discover solutions to science and engineering challenges at Science Saturday. Activities are included in regular admission and free for Hagley members. This is a drop-in activity, feel free to join the fun at any time from 12 to 4 p.m. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware.
This week we’ll be joined by our friends from the Delaware Museum of Natural History (DMNH) who will be providing some extra fun! Dig into DMNH’s compost bin for a look at dirt’s most well-known resident—the worm! Learn about other dirt dwellers and meet some, too!
Learn about colorful pigments and how and why we separate them using the science of chromatography. Create colorful chromatography art to take home!
Optical illusions and tricks of the mind will have you guessing what's real! Test out your perception and make a spinning disc picture.
Hitch up your wagon to see how far it will roll, powered by the force of a balloon!
