Thank you for your interest in the preservation work taking place at Hagley in late summer 2026.
The Powder Yard will be closed for two weeks towards the end of summer to allow Hagley teams and outside contractors to tackle important historic preservation and preventative maintenance projects. During this time, general admission will be 50% off the regular rates. The Visitor Center (including Nation of Inventors), the Museum Store, and the Historic Home and Gardens area will be open.
The work includes:
• Dredging the mill race inlet (the area just upstream from the Birkenhead waterwheel where the diversion dam feeds water into the main race)
• Replacing the roof on the Millwright Shop
• Removal of some of the most concerning/unsafe trees in the Powder Yard and in the Crowninshield, which will require complete road closure in those areas
• Masonry work in vital areas of the mill race
• and other projects
