Oral History Office

The Oral History Office preserves the lived experience of American enterprise by collecting and interpreting oral histories of business, technology, and society. The office has three main aims:

  • Increasing access to existing oral history and related collections at Hagley, both on-site and online
  • Creating oral history projects that expand Hagley’s collections
  • Helping Hagley develop and acquire new collections

Oral histories help us understand the past in all its texture and vividness. Interviews give voice to people whose experiences are not always captured in other historical records, and allow researchers to delve beneath the documents to learn about the complex human stories that underlie historical events.
